er well if you want to apply templates in that case as well, just add
xsl:apply-templates there as well.

ie don't do

      <xsl:otherwise><xsl:apply-templates/></xsl:otherwise>

    <xsl:choose>

      </xsl:when>
      <xsl:otherwise>
         <xsl:apply-templates/>
      </xsl:otherwise>
