I have seen those tutorials and they are quite good. There are a few
more out there and if you google around with a few keywords you will
find them. Of course, even I was interested in hearing what some people
(other than the authors) had to say about books they might have used.

I did have a brief look at Definitive XSL-FO at the nearby Barnes &
Nobles. It looked quite simple to follow, but I doubt if I can give an
accurate review or comparison.
