are you sure that you need any variables at all?


You could use something like the following setup which is variable free...

<xsl:stylesheet ...
 xmlns:x="anything"
>

  <x:x  name="pages" elem="FormZoom"/>
  <x:x name="params" elem="ParametroZoom"/>

...
<xsl:template ...>
 <Event method="nextPage" target="btnProceed" type="ActionHandler">
<xsl:for-each select="document('')/*/x:x">
<xsl:attribute name="{@name}">
       <xsl:for-each
      select="/Formatos/Forms/Form/Grids/Grid/Zooms/Zoom[@Coluna!='xxx']/*[name()=current()/@elem">
  <xsl:value-of select="."/>
  <xsl:text>:</xsl:text>
</xsl:for-each>
</xsl:attribute>
</xsl:for-each>
</Event>
....
