Use something like:

<xsl:for-each select="key('textItems',generate-id())[name()  
='my-include']">
	<xsl:copy>
		<xsl:copy-of select="@*"/>
		<xsl:attribute name="position">
			<xsl:value-of select="position()"/>
		</xsl:attribute>
		<xsl:copy-of select="node()"/>
	</xsl:copy>
</xsl:for-each>
