I often add

      <xsl:template match="*">
        <xsl:message>unexpected element encountered:
    <xsl:value-of select="name(..)" />/<xsl:value-of select="name()"
/></xsl:message>
      </xsl:template>

Since finding some elements isnt helpful in terms of locating them.
Knowing the parent/child is more useful.

	div/p

being more useful than just p
