Subject: [xsl] [ANNOUNCE] foActive <X>Styler Beta Program Open, XSL Design Plug-in For Word From: "Bernard Levy" <bernard.levy@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue, 20 Jun 2006 22:00:58 -0700 |
The foActive Beta Test team is proud to announce the beta release of <X>Styler, a plug-in to Microsoft Word Professional 2003 for designing XSL templates. <X>Styler supports the generation of XSL templates from Microsoft Word documents that have an associated XML schema. The resulting XSL templates can be used externally from Word to generate large, merged WordML files from XML data in the associated schema. <X>Styler has been tested and comes fully integrated to RenderX's XEP (Windows version) for further transformation to print and PDF using their WordML to XSL FO conversion style sheets. <X>Styler was designed for layout and test of dynamic document templates using the Microsoft Word authoring environment. After associating a schema with a Word document, the user can just use Microsoft Word to style the document however they wish. It also supports inserting Xpath references to data in the schema to allow for content out-of-order of the original schema or reusing content throughout a document. There are limitations in formatting from Word to PDF, but many types of documents can be created this way. We in no way imagine or designed <X>Styler as complete XSL design tool, it is but one way of generating templates that has an easy-to-use interface. A typical use scenario is for creating XSL templates for server-based transformation in dynamic document print applications such as direct mail, correspondence, invoicing, statements, contracts, and legal forms. Marketing can provide a Word document they wish to be the source of the print output and you can easily apply your schema and map your XML content into the Word document. After templates are designed, all merge and transformation can be done server-side with your choice of XSLT processor and of course RenderX - no Microsoft Word required as a print engine. The Beta program started June 19, 2006 and will last for one month. foActive would like your assistance in testing this product. Details and a beta request form are posted on the foActive web site (http://www.foactive.com). -- foActive Beta Test Team foActive LLC betatest@xxxxxxxxxxxx
