Hi Jim,

This is more of a POC which will give us an indicator whether it is
achievable using XSLT. The XML file can contain data as follows.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

<main-element>
<fid id='DATA_STATUS'>0</fid>
</ main-element >

<main-element>
<fid id='DATA_STATUS'>1</fid>
</ main-element >

The symbol list is abc|def

The output required is
<header>
abc
</header>
<main-element>
<fid id='DATA_STATUS'>0</fid>
</ main-element >

<header>
def
</header>
<main-element>
<fid id='DATA_STATUS'>1</fid>
</ main-element >

Thanks & Regards,
Ambika Prasad Das

can u create a complete example?

* xml doc with sample data
* complete xslt doc that represents your problem

giving us snippets of information means we might spend time looking at
problems that are not actually problems....as others have already noted
you have issues with your params e.g. a whitespace in $input_param
etc....

ps: it feels like we are dealing with a turing machine at the moment
