select="sum(current-group()[self::po/@cases])"/></total>

with:

<total>
  <xsl:value-of
       select="sum(current-group()[self::po]/@cases)"/>
</total>

OK. so I replaced that line but I still get the same error message (FORG0001: Can not convert string "" to a double...)
