suppose your source looks like
<foo xmlns="ho"
xmlns:a="hum"
xmlns:b="ha"
xmlns:c="zzz">
<bar/>
<foo/>
Then depending on the value of copy-namespaces ,<xsl:copy-of on the bar
element will return
<bar xmlns="ho"/>
or
<bar xmlns="ho"
xmlns:a="hum"
xmlns:b="ha"
xmlns:c="zzz"/>
which result is necessary or desirable depends of course on your needs
and desires.
