Subject: RE: [xsl] Is it possible to nest templates? If not, how to combine the output of two templates into one? From: "Carla Lotito" <clotito@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 3 Mar 2008 17:23:32 -0500 |
Hi, Let me clarify. I have two stylesheets right now because I'm having a hard time combining them (thus my posting to this list): 1. The first one creates troff from different xml files (creates man pages using the DITA toolkit and the troff transformation - however, this transformation does not create a table of contents). 2. The second stylesheet looks at the table of contents (different xml files from the first) (where we store product name and version) and pulls values from it since these values are not stored in the command pages but need to be written to them. Another process writes values to index.xml. What I want to do is combine these stylesheets into one. What I want to do is open the file that has the values, read the values, and then write the values to my command output. Thanks again! Carla -------------------------------- Here's my xml source file (where values are stored) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <names><prodname>Myprod</prodname><prodversion> Version 8.0</prodversion><release> Release date: April 19, 2008</release><modified/><draft></draft> </names> Here's the full stylesheet to retrieve the values and do other transformations (it's long) with the redirect, look for set-date: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <!-- (c) Copyright IBM Corp. 2004, 2006 All Rights Reserved. --> <!-- Second step in the DITA to text transform. This takes an intermediate format, and converts it to text output. The text style is determined by the OUTFORMAT parameter. Currently supported values are plaintext, troff, and nroff (troff and nroff match at the moment). The first step creates an intermediate format that uses only a few elements. It has a root <dita> element, and everything else fits in to these elements: <section> : used for <section> and <example>. This can nest any of the following elements. <sectiontitle> : used for the titles of <section> and <example>. This will nest the <text> element. <block> : all other block-like elements. The reason section does not use <block> is that it maps well to troff-style sections that use the .SH macro for highlighting and indenting. This can nest any number of <block> or <text> elements. Attributes set lead-in text (such as list item numbers that must appear before the list item text), as well as indent values. Other attributes are described below. <text> : all text nodes and phrases. This can include text or additional <text> elements. Text will be wrapped, with the width determined by the LINELENGTH parameter. Formatters such as troff may reflow the text as needed. Line breaks should only be forced in pre-formatted text, or between blocks. --> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:saxon="http://icl.com/saxon" extension-element-prefixes="saxon date exsl redirect" xmlns:exsl="http://exslt.org/common" xmlns:redirect="org.apache.xalan.xslt.extensions.Redirect" xmlns:date="http://exslt.org/dates-and-times"> <!-- ALL ELEMENTS CAN TAKE @xtrf and @xtrc Attributes on dita: Attributes on section: Attributes on sectiontitle: Attributes on block: @xml:space="preserve" @position="center" @indent="digit" - additional indent new for this element @compact="yes|no" @leadin="" - text that appears once at the start of the element.
