The code that i posted did what you want, I think.
Mukul correctly pointed out that this template (copied from your
original) is the same as the default, so isn't neede (but doesn't do any
harm either).
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:apply-templates select="*"/>
</xsl:template>
But you appear to have removed this template
<xsl:template match="@* | node()">
<xsl:copy>
<xsl:apply-templates select="@* | node()"/>
</xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>
So you are no longer copying elements from the input to the result.
