as i know - "calculated mode name" not exist in XSLT 2.0 spec, but
"calculated template name" exist as Saxon extension
(http://www.saxonica.com/documentation/extensions/instructions/call-template.html)
 and in this case you can use named templates as "mode proxy"

.....
<saxon:call-template name="{$tname}"/>
.....
<xsl:template name="bla-bla">
<xsl:apply-templates mode="bla-bla"/>
</xsl:template>
