Look on your Unix platform for a font family that includes that Unicode character and then use <fo:character> to express it in a different font than the text that surrounds it:


<fo:character character="&#x2612;" font-family="WhateverWorks"/>

Alternatively you can use <fo:inline> to wrap the one character:

<fo:inline font-family="Whateverworks">&#x2612;</fo:inline>

A Google search of "free font resources unix" has some promising links.
