If you're the person I helped to come up with the awful XPath expression in IRC, I'll note that sometimes taking a step back and asking about the bigger picture can be a good idea (I should have pressed harder about why you wanted what you did!) - Liam's law of optimization is that often the fastest way to do something is to avoid doing it :-)
