This is difficult to answer because hardly anyone would know why *you* would, or would not, write something. ;-) Replacing "I" by "anyone", here's two good answers: 1) Some people don't bother (or fail) to learn or remember what the default is. 2) Many people think that it is good practice to code defaults anyway, mostly because of 1).
