* A ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION ON PLAGIARISM, held on Saturday at
the annual conference of the American Historical Association,
in Chicago, brought forth a range of opinions on how
historians should respond to the problem. One panelist called
for punishing wrongdoers through the "old-fashioned virtue of
shaming." Another offered a more skeptical perspective,
saying, "Everyone exaggerates his own originality."
