Subject: Two Questions From: "Miller, Sandra" <MillerS@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 4 Aug 2004 13:41:31 -0400 |
Here are two questions that we need answers to: Q: Is it permissible for a professor to tape a TV program off the air at home and bring it to school the next day to play it back to the class? A: This may be the only way a program can be taped simultaneously with the broadcast transmission or simultaneous cable retransmission. After the date of recording, the program must be used during the first 10 consecutive school days in the 45 calendar day retention period. Q: A professor wants to record the 6:00AM TV newscast from Channel 2 to use in class. A: Newscasts may be recorded, but features such as "60 Minutes" may not be used without permission. Would greatly appreciate any responses. Sandie Sandra L. Miller, Ed.D. Director, Instruction & Research Technology William Paterson University 300 Pompton Rd.
