Subject: Putting videos on a course DVD From: Koichi Sato <ksato2@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 14 Sep 2007 09:54:45 -0500 |
In distance education, if I want to create a DVD that accompanies the course and has a few videos on it that I don't own the copyright for, what do I need to do to make it happen? The course is not an online course; it is a print-based correspondence course. I want students to watch those videos and write responses to them. One of the videos I am thinking about is an documentary video from HBO that I purchased online ($25). What if it was a recorded video from a regular TV channel like Discovery Channel? What if it was a TV commercial? I know showing them in a classroom is okay, but how can it be done in the distance education settings, especially in the print-based course? As a backup plan, I thought about requiring them to subscribe to NetFlix and get them to find the videos on their own. But, if there are ways I can create a DVD with all those videos on it and include the DVD in the course packet, I would like to know how I can go about it. ------------------------------------------------------ Koichi Sato, M.S.Ed & M.P.H.
