CONFERENCE OUTLINE
KnowRight conferences have been held since 1995. Traditionally they have been
focusing on the interaction between Intellectual Property Rights, Information
Rights, ethical issues, civil society and information technology. The 2008
edition of KnowRight will go beyond this traditional reach. It will be
organized by the Austrian Computer Society OCG, supported by the German
Computing Society GI and the German Society for Law and Informatics DGRI and
take place in Krakow / Poland in cooperation with the Institute of
Intellectual Property Law at the Jagiellonian University.

Academics, practitioners and researchers from throughout Europe and the United
States will meet to discuss a broad range of issues arising in the context of
the Information Society and a progressively electronic environment.
Participation of a wide spectrum of vested interests will ensure a lively
debate on issues such as access to information, computer crime, copy-left,
data retention, digital libraries, e-commerce, e-government, e-justice,
electronic civil society, free speech and homeland security, ICT and
standardisation, IP and competition law, IP and development agenda, IP and
innovation, IP and public policy considerations, new challenges for the
