The Center for Intellectual Property (CIP) is proud to welcome and introduce
Peggy E. Hoon as our 2011-2013 Intellectual Property Scholar.  While working
with the CIP, Ms. Hoon is also serving as the Copyright Education Specialist
for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). Prior to joining
UNCC, Ms. Hoon was a Special Assistant to the Provost for Copyright
Administration at NC 
State and the NCSU Libraries Scholarly Communication
Librarian for over twelve years where she authored the TEACH Act Toolkit and
achieved a national reputation for copyright expertise.  As the Association of
Research Libraries first Visiting Scholar for Campus Copyright and
Intellectual Property, she headed the "Know Your Copy Rights" web site and
brochure. She has worked extensively with the Center for Intellectual Property
at University of Maryland University College and is the American Library
Association's 2008 recipient of the L. Ray Patterson Award in Support of
Users' Rights. She holds a J.D. from the 
University of Washington.
The Center for Intellectual Property's IP Scholar takes a leading role in
advancing the CIP's education, resource and research development initiatives.
The Scholar serves on the CIP Board of Advisors, conducts quarterly Q & A
sessions for members, teaches online workshops and courses, presents at the
CIP symposium, develops reports and research on critical areas of intellectual
property law, offers consultant services 
to community members and moderates
