Well, it was bound to happen. A version of DAsm for MPW has been
released. Now I haven't tested this at all and didn't even compile it.
MacDAsm comes to us courtesy of someone known only as "=Rob=". I want to
say right now if this thing is some Trojan Horse, well, I just want to
apologize in advance. I've taken a new job, and am more worried about
learning the in's and out's of Microsoft's InterDev and Borland's
JBuilder than making an Atari game right now. Sorry! :(

MacDASM can be found on the Mactari site at this URL:
http://members.aol.com/~mactari/untestd/macdasm.sit

If I ever get around to testing it, I'll probably move it but it's going
to be at that address for a while. If you can't find it years later,
just check the normal Mactari Tools site.

This does seem to be a well done tool. I shoved it into my Tools folder
and ran the commando box. Nice GUI interface at the very least! Let me
know how you like it.

Here's what =Rob= has to say about his creation of MacDASM:
>Strange humans... no DASM for the Macintosh, well enough of that. Here it is!
>PHAT and large, with a quickie commando interface to boot. You did say
you're a
>Macintosh user, didn't you? If you don't settle for 1960s UI on your
desktop, why
>should you in your tools?
>
>So... here it is. This is essentially Matt Dillon's DASM 2.00, with Olaf
Seibert's
>2.02 patches (very gentle ones) with my even gentler prunings and shapings.
Off all
>of this code, only one routine in main.c was a little naughty from the ANSI
>perspective. All has been forgiven and repaired. I also took a little time
to make
>the output listing slightly nicer.

>And I also print out execution times, and allow for quiet operation. I also
slightly
>modified the syntax of the options processor to permit spaces following the
-l, -o, and

>Other than that, it's DASM 2.02 baby. Enjoy it, and use it to code those
killer VCS
>demos and games. I wanna play some! :)

>Until then, may your soul burn in my eternal braziers.

>PS: The PowerPC part of the tools have been compiled with -O3 using Motorola's

the
