Actually, the header wasn't even developed for MESS, I developed if for my standalone 7800 emulator. I wanted to avoid the nightmare of dozens of command line switches that many 2600 emulators had to support all the different bankswitch modes and controller configurations. The reason I don't support signing of raw binaries > 48K is that I don't know which section of the ROM is mapped at console init time, so I can't calculate a signature. The A78 header has that additional meta- information about the mapping that is needed. There is nothing MESS- specific about the A78 format, BTW, except that it originated with MESS. It's actually a good solution to that mapping problem which crops up with bank-switched cart images on all consoles. Thanks, -Frank > Umm, am I missing something here?
