The cool thing about storing on computers is you never have to permanently store the audio. You generate the audio on demand, preferably on the fly as a real-time stream (like PlayBin) rather than through an intermediate file. In theory that would work well with PDAs limited storage capabilities.


Also, I had good success with 22khz 8-bit MONO out of my Amiga, so the device doesn't even have to have cd-quality audio qualities. I know some PDAs have weaker audio capabilities.
