Thanks to everyone regarding my questions.
Regarding compiler/Assembler; I knew this, but was inarticulate.  Thanks for calling me on it.  

Will be doing a bit more in January...
However, it's great fun noodling with the code as it is.

On river raid, I think I was missing the -f3 flag.
