And it's good tht you're trying oddball cases to look to get into the previous described "won't select" state. Obviously, I'm less concerned about little glitches most likely to emerge when someone is trying to hack around with the system (like taking apart atari joysticks so you can press up and down at the same time in Combat) than ensuring behvaior is as expected for "normal" usage, but still, you can't assume that all usage will be "normal".
