Also, be aware that any single mesh has a limit of 65,536 vertices.  This is not a limit  imposed because of Virtools (although I believe that Virtools does enforce this limit) but a limit for many video cards.  So - if you want to keep your compositions as compatible as possible, then you should keep this in mind.
 
The number of real time lighting effects, multitexturing effects, and the complexity of your animations is more likely to be the source of performance limits.

DEV will import ( like a specific amounts of polygons ) into it to export it out to the virtools player. Also,
will it affect the running time in the player if the polygon count is
