Thanks to Patrick & Christian for their help.

I am only learning how to use the building block system, but despite my
initial concerns the learning process is going well.

It is interesting that both Patrick & Christian used completely different
approaches to resolving my problem. Whilst waiting for a reply I found a way
of doing this myself and needless to say it was completely different from
either of the above.

It is nice to see the flexibility I am used to in different authoring
systems that use C based scripting to perform behaviour still available in Dev.
