AW: [Virtools] New Physics Car

Hi!

Another problem is, the manual gearbox does not change gears.

Just one time to gear four (via gear three) immediately and one time
back to three and then no more changes possible!

Greetings, Matthias

Yes,

we know allmost complete the Physics Car. That's not the problem.

But, is that right: ?!?

+100 % = full forward (your foot fully press the accelerator)
	|
	---> ok!!

-100% = full backward (your foot fully press the breaks)
	|
---> really breaks or just negative accelerator?

I mean at -100% the car is stopping (like pressing the breaks) sure , but
after stopping it starts to run backwards to Maximum Speed (but negative).

So if you want to go with half max speed, eg. not with 76 km/h -> with 38
km/h you have to set ~ +50% right?

And to go with the Cars max negative speed (eg. -14 km/h) you have to
set -14/76 = - 0.1842 (= -18.42%) right?

In that case the description of BB Physics Car is not clear ;-)

Percentage of max acceleration or percentage of maximum speed.

We just want to reach the maximum speed at every gear and no more
accelaration.

So in gear one 11 km/h and not more! What about the backward gear?

Any idea?

Regards, Matthias

Hi all,

I never thought not being satisfied by some BB's doumentation could be so
scarry !

I'll try to answer as best as I can:

> - What is the meaning exactly of the Forward/Backward Percentage? Percents
> of what?
+100 % = full forward (your foot fully press the accelerator)
-100% = full backward (your foot fully press the breaks)

> - How does the engine power in the corresponding array take place in the
> system?
The more engine power you have the more your car will react like dragster

> - The same question for the values in gear 1 to 5 (transmission ratio?!?)
Kind of ratio between the RPM (rotation per minutes of the motor) and th
torque applied to wheels.
Common ratios are:
gear 0 = 3.8
gear 1 = 2.2
gear 2 = 1.3
gear 3 = 1
gear 4 = 0.8
Thus at gear 0, the RPM will be higher than at gear 2, but the torque will
be smaller.

> - Why is the first gear allways 0 and not 1?
Don't know... but don't be so afraid about that... things are different
sometimes.

> - At which moment does the automatic gearbox change the gears?
When the RPM start to be too high... i.e. when the ratio of the next gear
give more torques to the wheels.

Note: There's 2 samples .cmo provided with the 2.1 version of the Physics
Pack (go to \Documentation\Physics Database, and open files: baobab cafe
US.cmo, and raycast car sample.cmo.) And you can also find 2 preformatted
car data arrays called "car pickup array.nmo" and "car raycast array.nmo"

Hope this help,

Araya
