Re: [Virtools] file size increasing

Title: Message
- You need to have the texture original files stored in path known as a bitmap paths (see path manager ) or ideally in
one of your opened ressources so they can be found when reloading your file otherwise you will indeed lose temp when reloading
a file saved with "save as external files" option

-  There is no "Backup" kept in the .cmo file when you save

- Another important thing I forgot to mention was the file compression (in the preferences too)
if you previously saved with compression turned on and that it is now turned off you file size may have increase too

Curiously enough, the file size reduces if I change the save option to "save as raw data". Sadly I have never managed to get the "save as external files" option to work - the textures just all vanished...

Your texture / sound saving options may have been changed
Check in the preferences \ miscellaneous control

Texture/Sprite save options and Sound file save options
including your textures and sound inside the .cmo or saving as raw data increase the size of your CMO file while
keeping reference to external texture files keep it lower.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Virtools] file size increasing

Hi people,

I've got a bit of a problem right now and can't figure it out. If I open my .CMO file, and save it under another name, it doubles in size even though I have done nothing to it.

Even more strangely, if I open an earlier version of it and save it under another name, it doubles in size.

I have rebooted my machine and re-installed Virtools, and the problem persists.

Please, have you any idea what might be causing this? I have looked on the forum and the only similar-sounding problem was associated with somebody merging two CMOs, which I am not doing - I am only opening the file and saving it immediately.

Thanks,

Shelagh Lewins
