Subject: RE: Does MSXMLR.DLL require IE? From: Jeff Hamilton <jhamilton@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2000 20:11:48 -0500 |
I did obtain my copy of MSXMLR.DLL from the redistribution
package on the MS site. The package just contains this DLL
and another for "uninstallation".
Perhaps I should have mentioned this in my earlier post - If you
use the Load method on an URL (ie: not a local file) the MSXMLR.DLL
appears to use some part of IE functionality to download the file. I know
this because if I change my proxy server in the IE control panel to an
invalid address my code stops working.
I am concerned that MSXMLR.DLL might have some other external
dependencies. Obviously it has at least one.
PS. The redistribution package won't install unless you have IE 4.01
or greater.
A list of DLL's would be appreciated if anyone else has tried to make this
work.
Thanks,
Jeff.

Subject: Does MSXMLR.DLL require IE?
I am using MSXMLR.DLL from a plugin I have developed for Netscape.
I plan on only using the Transformnode method and some parsing
methods of MSXMLR.DLL. I use the Load method to load XML and
XSL from the local hard drive (ie: Netscape cache.)
It works, but my machine has both IE 4.01 and Netscape 4.7. Will it
work on machines without IE, provided I ship MSXMLR.DLL? Are there
any other DLL's that are required?
Thanks,
Jeff.
