I would like to add my voice to those offering opinions about Mike Kay's XSLT book. I have some instructor copies here already and have our program head (for CS) reading it. Mike has really written to a level that allows the reader an understanding of both "how to do it" and "how it works and why." It is exceptionally well written. While it is presently too deep for use in a foundational (junior level in a CS major's program) I am already developing a number of learning activities that will allow many courses to be significantly enriched with XSLT middle-ware exercises. For those studying information systems, application knowledge of XSLT is likely to be not just useful but vital. Mike's book certainly is an outstanding reference/learning resource. I am recommending it to a number of our junior faculty. I expect to put a workshop on for them later in the summer. Mike's book has made that task much more feasible. Before I paint myself into a corner, let me add the standard notice: the opinions expressed here are strictly my own and do not reflect (nor should they be construed as) an endorsement by the Academy (USMA), Department of the Army, the Department of Defense or the U.S. Government. Mike Kay's "XSLT" published by Wrox is the best around at the moment...
