Maybe there are not many differences in a simple table creation script, but in an Oracle database you would want to define a storage clause and tablespace etc. Besides, I believe the datatypes are different on the different databases. And what about indexes, foreign keys etc? And another thing: for every object we create in the database, we also want to have a drop object statement available. This means, when using .sql files, a lot of files which have to be maintained. If al this could be generated at once from an XML file, this would save us a lot of trouble.
