Oh, inside an element. You mean something like this?
<graphic>
images/foo.jpg
</graphic>
In that case you probably want something like:
<xsl:template match="graphic">
<IMG SRC="{normalize-space()"}/>
</xsl:template>
normalize-space() strips any leading and trailing whitespace. With no
arguments, it is applied to the string value of the current node.
