[xsl] generating XML

Hi,
I'm using Microsoft.XMLDOM to generate a XML-file.
My problem is that I can't get linebreaks. It comes out like this:

<root><person><FirstName/></person><person><FirstName/></person></root>

but of course I want it like this:
<root>
 <person>
   <FirstName/>
 </person>
 <person>
   <FirstName/>
 </person>
</root>

My code:

...

Set root = xmlDOC.createNode("element", "root", "")
xmlDOC.appendChild (root)

While not RS.EOF
 Set person = xmlDOC.createNode("element", "person", "")
 xmldoc.documentElement.appendChild (person)

 Set FirstName = xmldoc.createNode("element", "FirstName", "")
 person.appendChild (FirstName)

 xmlDOC.save server.mappath("test.xml")
RS.MoveNext
wend

...


Anyone knows the "medicine" for this?
