Sorry, I'll be more explict.
You are not generating either html or xml, but some language for the palm
pilot. Thus you could use in your stylesheet

<xsl:output method="text"/>

then, since the output is text you do not output element nodes, but you
can output any text you like:

for example

<xsl:template match="something">
 &lt;!NameFunction=<xsl:value-of select="@type"/>&gt;
</xsl:template>

would convert an input of <something type="Save"/> to an output of
<!NameFunction="Save"> 

Of course, as you are outputting text not element nodes, you would have
to do similar things to produce text containg character strings such as
<html>

rather than outputting an html element

<xsl:template match="top">
<html>
...
</html>
</xsl:template>


you would output the text string "<html>" which in the stylesheet would
have to be encoded as follows

<xsl:template match="top">
&lt;html>
...
&lt;/html>
</xsl:template>
