Thanks for the answer. Alas, it still doesn't work:

Test-Sun:sakaama:/home/Install/saxon [152]java -classpath /usr/java1.1/lib:/home/Install/saxon com.icl.saxon.Stylesheet world.xml hello.xsl helloworld.html
Can't find class com.icl.saxon.Stylesheet

they're all really there:

Test-Sun:sakaama:/home/Install/saxon [153]ls -l
total 1252
-rw-r--r-- 1 sakaama sgml 64 Okt 8 15:35 hello.xml
-rw-r--r-- 1 sakaama sgml 559 Okt 8 15:35 hello.xsl
-rw-r--r-- 1 sakaama sgml 623074 Okt 2 16:52 saxon.jar

another java error?

As you will learn, this is a java error. you're missing a space:

> [101]java -classpath/usr/java1.1/lib:. com.icl.saxon.Stylesheet world.xml
                      ^

try:

java -classpath /usr/java1.1/lib:. com.icl.saxon.Stylesheet world.xml hello.xsl helloworld.html
