Subject: [xsl] Muenchian method, and keys 'n stuff From: DPawson@xxxxxxxxxxx Date: Tue, 22 Jan 2002 12:56:15 -0000 |
so far so good, but I'm missing a bit. Source XML is a series of grouped records <doc> <adventure> <r> <Ra> <lett>a</lett> <au>Ashley, Bernard. </au> </Ra> </r> multiple r records. output requirement is to report, for each group (adventure) all Authors beginning with, or (the hard bit) to state <p>There are no authors beginning with X </p> stylesheet is: <xsl:variable name="u" select="'ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ'"/> <xsl:variable name="l" select="'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'"/> <xsl:key name="auth" match="r" use="Ra/lett"/> <xsl:template match="adventure"> <h1>Adventure</h1> <!-- <xsl:for-each select="//l:letters/n">--> <xsl:apply-templates select="r[generate-id(.)= generate-id(key('auth',Ra/lett)[1])]"/> </xsl:template> Then for each r <xsl:template match="r"> <xsl:variable name="thisAu" select="Ra/au"/> <h2>The letter <xsl:value-of select="translate(Ra/lett, $l,$u)"/> </h2> <h3><xsl:value-of select="Ra/au"/></h3> other stuff <xsl:apply-templates select="following-sibling::r[Ra/au = $thisAu ]" mode="others"/> </xsl:template> Which does the job for those records that *are* there. I had to remove a for-each over an alphabet, because the contexts were screwing me up. that was nice, I could call up each letter in turn... but my brain gave up at that point. I now have <l:letters xmlns:l="local"> <n>a</n> <n>b</n> <n>c</n> <n>d</n> <n>e</n> <n>f</n> <n>g</n> ... in the source document (its part 3 of a chain), to keep the key context right, but I can't figure out a way of iterating over an alphabet, and processing the records to 'announce' the missing letters (i.e. no books beginning with that letter) Any help appreciated.
