But that doesn't > really mean much. :) No, that's a myth, at least so far as the RFC for URLs is concerned. But browsers have been using it forever so it works in browsers. No guarantees whether it would work in an xslt processor, though, since it's not in the RFC. The main thing that is not nailed down is whether the path separators should be forward slashes or backslashes (i.e., a transparent or opaque form), and if the former, how to specify the drive letter.
