None of the templates you show will add any white space coming from the stylesheet (all the white space you showed is in whitespace-only text nodes, and they are (effectively) removed before the stylesheet is processed. Also you are not copying any text nodes from the source, only element and attribute nodes. so.. There should not be any white space between elements other than the whitespace (newline and some spaces) that may be added to indent as you say you have have indent="yes". The only other source of whitespace in the output from teh templates you show is <xsl:copy-of select="*[name()!=...]"/> which will of course copy the whole content of the specified elements, including white space. what processor are you using, and do you get something better with indent="no" ?
