Probably tidy is assuming that the input is XHTML. i.e. valid XML. If the <meta> does not hava a </meta> or is not <meta/>, it should complain.All well and good, but when I attempt to use html-tidy I get informed of
my ill-formed html (</head> in <meta> etc).
that sounds like a bug in tidy, meta is an empty element so why should
it be complaing about
<head>
<meta>
</head>
