Note XSLT is not an XML parser, saxon implements XSLT (which is the transformation language), saxon can use any sax parser to parse the XML, but comes with aelfred). This is a faq, declare a <xsl:param name="date"/> in your stylesheet and the pass in the date on the command line saxon file.xml style.xsl date=2002/06/25 alternatively you could use an extension function to get teh date from java.
