The rules for white space in XSLT are really very simple, and you have full control over which spaces get output. All characters in a template get copied to the output unless they are in a text node that consists of just white space, in which case extra rules apply, but by default they do not get copied unless they are a child of xsl:text. If you want to use white space to indent your stylesheet without affecting the output just always make sure all characters to be output are inside <xsl:text>. > <!DOCTYPE xsl:stylesheet SYSTEM "D:\xsl-exp\characterEntities\entityref.dtd"> It is rarely worthwhile declaring entities in the stylesheet. If you do, then note that teh above is not strictly legal although some parsers may silently correct it for you. the SYSTEM ID should be a URI. You have a URI in the unknown URI scheme D: what you probably want is file:///D/xsl-exp/characterEntities/entityref.dtd David _____________________________________________________________________ This message has been checked for all known viruses by Star Internet delivered through the MessageLabs Virus Scanning Service.
