For me it looks like, that the xsl transformation does not know the schema. Correct? If yes, why? XSLT is based on the XML specification that specifies how to define attributes of type ID (using dtd syntax). Just because another document comes along some years later and specifies how a schema processor may understand some other attributes as having ID type, why do you suppose XSLT (or any other XML application) should understand that? The XSLT/XPath 2 drafts do support schema types.
