Understood. I was remarking on the difference in parameter count. If we are
using the same file (xmlspy fop.bat), the .bat file has room for 8
arguments, and your command line contained only 6. I am assuming that %7 and
%8 are not needed "placeholders" as you call them.

That's just placeholders for DOS batch script parameters. Don't you remember
DOS batch scripting? ;)
