[xsl] HTML and &lt;

I've got an RSS feed that uses html special character tags such as the &lt;
and &gt; but Xalan converts those symbols to <>, thus any font, p or a href
tags are being rendered as text rather than html.

My output method is set to HTML, but how do I get these tags to render as
html, rather than text?
