[xsl] algorithm for alternation

Subject: [xsl] algorithm for alternation

Would some generous person please suggest a algorithm to 
lazy me for alternation in xsl.  I want to do different
things to every alternate node.  So first node has 
attributes A, second node attributes B, third node
attributes A ... n.
