You probably want to select every second item <xsl:for-each select="itemname[position() mod 2 = 0]"> then make a row of teh table <tr> <td><xsl:value-of select="."/></td> <td><xsl:value-of select="following-sibling::*[1]"/></td> </tr> </xsl:for-each>
