OOPS, I fucked up a little :) I was a little but too quick on the send
button.

I meant the following code:

<xsl:template match="/">
	<xsl:apply-templates select="person">
		<xsl:sort select="fname"/>
	</xsl:apply-templates>
</xsl:template>

and

<xsl:template match="/">
	<xsl:param name="sort">fname</xsl:param>
	<xsl:apply-templates select="person">
		<xsl:sort select="$sort"/>
	</xsl:apply-templates>
</xsl:template>
