Done it. Basically, define *most*, not all, of the short ref terminators in the charset and it works! SHORTREF SGMLREF "''" "'''" "'''''" ">" "&#RS;----" "**" "&#RS;*" "&#RS;**" "&#RS;***" etc. Should you ever need to ask non geeks to write XML, tell 'em to write in plain 'ish' text, and use SGML!
