You can always write your own DTD-specific attribute filter, e.g.:
<xsl:template match="@*"> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="self::attname_1 and string(.) = 'default_value'"/>
test="count(.|../@attname_1)=count(../@attname_1) and
